Justice Support
Are you thinking of reporting your experience of childhood sexual abuse to the police?
Have you already taken this step and need some support?
Are you a parent or carer looking for support for your child, who is going through the Justice System?
Justice Support:
Is available for people who wish to report their childhood sexual abuse to the police. We understand that this can be a very difficult decision to make. We hope that by providing support people will feel encouraged to take that step when they feel ready.
What will happen?
Although investigations will vary depending on individual circumstances, all childhood sexual abuse cases in Fife are dealt with by the Child Protection Unit. The Unit has a dedicated, skilled team of police officers.
To protect client confidentiality Safe Space provides the Child Protection Unit with a list of our approved Justice Support workers.
All Safe Space staff and volunteers have been through an enhanced disclosure check with Disclosure Scotland and attend regular individual and group supervision sessions.
What you can expect:
*General support through the criminal justice process with a Justice Support Volunteer.
*A safe and confidential place to talk.
*Help in understanding the complexities of the Scottish legal system.
